On the Upper East Side, the temperatures are dropping, and chic coats are starting to take center stage on the Madison Avenue runway. But just because we’re bundling up over here doesn’t mean we’re not in need of warm weather attire–it is winter vacay season after all, and I for one plan on hopping on my private jet and landing on a sun-soaked beach soon enough. So when one of my minions forwarded me this info about a $1 million swimsuit, my eyes lit up. That is until I saw the picture of it: CLICK HERE TO SEE THE PIC!
Clearly the hefty price tag is based purely on the plethora of gems and pearls adorning it, not on the quality of design, n’est–ce pas? The piece, which is created by jewelry designer Ann Middleton (of no relation to Kate) and swimwear label Sunseeker, features almost 100 Australian South Sea pearls and 220 brilliant cut diamonds weighing a total of 133 carats. “I hadn’t done a swimsuit before,” Ann said, “but when I saw the design, I knew I wanted to create a seemingly simple, perfect, beautiful garment.” Oh, that explains it–she’s never done swimwear before. No wonder. I do have to wonder if she realizes though that the only thing simple, perfect, and beautiful about this is the jewels–which would be much better off by themselves in my opinion….
But I could be out-ruled here. Am I think only one who wouldn’t give up my weekly allowance to buy this swimsuit? Tell me what you think!
